Prohibited Services

Vicinity World, Inc. Effective Date: October 18, 2026 Last Reviewed: October 18, 2026

1. What this page covers

Vicinity World is a marketplace for everyday services between neighbors: rides and carpools, repairs, tutoring, pet care, errands and the like. This page lists what may not be offered, requested or paid for through the platform. It applies to every listing, booking, message and post, and it is part of our Terms of Service.

2. Services only — no goods

Vicinity World is a services marketplace. Not allowed:

  • Selling, reselling, trading or giving away physical goods.
  • Selling digital goods, digital subscriptions or digital content.
  • Any form of e-commerce or order fulfillment.

Materials that are incidental to a service are fine — a tutor's worksheets, a handyman's screws. The test is whether the service or the goods are what is really being offered; when it is unclear, we treat the listing as goods.

3. Prohibited categories

  • Illegal activity of any kind under U.S. federal or state law, including controlled substances (cannabis included, whatever the state's law), prescription medicines, stolen or counterfeit property, and pirated or infringing content.
  • Weapons: firearms, ammunition, explosives and their accessories.
  • Adult services and content, including escort or "companionship" services with any sexual implication, and adult content of any kind.
  • Gambling and wagering: betting, lotteries, casino games, cash-prize contests with paid entry, sweepstakes.
  • Financial services: lending, money transmission, check cashing, currency or cryptocurrency exchange, investment or insurance services.
  • Services that require a professional license — legal, medical, dental, mental-health, real-estate brokerage, tax preparation or accounting — because Vicinity World does not verify professional licenses.
  • Alcohol, tobacco and vaping products — sale or delivery.
  • Live animals — sale, breeding or transport for sale. (Pet care, walking and sitting are welcome.)
  • Hazardous materials — chemicals, biohazards, radioactive materials.
  • Multi-level marketing, telemarketing, door-to-door sales and time-shares.
  • Fundraising or charitable solicitation on behalf of others.
  • Anything our payment processor does not allow to be paid for through its service.

4. What happens when something breaks these rules

  • A listing, post or message in a prohibited category is removed, and any booking for it is cancelled and refunded under the Terms of Service.
  • Repeated or serious violations lead to suspension or closure of the account, and illegal activity may be reported to the authorities.
  • Anyone can report a listing, post, profile or conversation from the app; reports are reviewed by a person.

5. Questions
